This device was used on a resident at our nursing home to assist in lifting his legs during ambulation.
This particular resident did not experience an increase in ambulation distance from using the assist but did experience a better quality of movement. His gait speed slowed (thus making it safer) and his base of support narrowed (i.e: patient did not have to keep his legs as far apart during ambulation, which means his balance was better).

This patient has been set up on a maintenance program that calls for the use of the assist.

Until I got MS, my favorite form of exercise was walking, in fact my only exercise was walking. Then I got MS - my right leg felt like it weighed two thousand pounds and I thought my walking days were over. Then I saw an Ad for the leg lift in a MS publication and thought it might be just what I needed. And I was right. This magic device picks up my leg and I can really walk again. It took awhile to get it just right - that is kind of tricky, but now that it is right for me, I am enjoying my walks. Even when I don't have it on my walking is better - I had forgotten how to walk. Dear Doug, My name is Alan C. My Aunt Anna sent me the FLA and it's working great. I also have spasms and my right foot seldom got up. Now I wake up and put on my FLA and start walking. I need a walker for balance but just putting weight on my feet makes my legs stronger. I can tell everytime I sit up or transfer to a vehicle.
